چکیده

Development of robust diagnostic solutions to monitor the health of systems and components to ensure through life cost effectiveness is often technically difficult, requiring an effective integration of design development with research and innovation. This paper presents a structured application of TRIZ and USIT (Unified Structured Inventive Thinking) to generate concept solutions for an in-service diagnostic system for a synchronous belt drive system for an automotive application. The systematic exploration through TRIZ and USIT methods has led to the development of six concept solution ideas directed at the functional requirement to determine the state or condition of the belt. The paper demonstrates that the combined deployment of TRIZ and USIT frameworks is a valuable approach addressing difficult design problems. © 2013 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Application of SVC on Large Synchronous Motors Based on LOC Design (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper describes the application of static var compensators, (SVC) on an electrical distribution network containing two large synchronous motors, one of which is excited via a three-phase thyristor bridge rectifier. The second machine is excited via a diode bridge rectifier. Based on linear optimization control (LOC), the measurable feedback signals are applied to the control system loops o...

Application of an Additive Self-tuning Controller for Static Synchronous Series Compensator for Damping of Sub-synchronous Resonance Oscillations

In this paper, an additive self-tuning (ST) control scheme is presented for a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) to improve performance of conventional PI control system for damping sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) oscillations. The active and reactve series compensation are provided by a three-level 24-pulse SSSC and fixed capacitor. The proposed ST controller consists of a pole shift...

Design of Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with Metal Pushing Belt and Variable Pulleys

Nowadays, automakers have invested in new technologies in order to improve the efficiency of their products. Giant automakers have taken an important step toward achieving this objective by designing continuously variable transmission systems (CVT) to continuously adapt the power of the engine with the external load according to the optimum efficiency curve of e...

A Novel Method to Increase the Power Capacity of Transmission Lines Using Transformerless Static Synchronous Series Compensator

In this paper a transformerless Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) to increase the power capacity of a 230 kV transmission line is proposed. In order to eliminate the transformer, a 15-level cascade H Bridge (CHB) inverter is employed within the proposed compensator structure to inject reactive power to the transmission line. The theory of instantaneous p-q power using in the compensa...

An application of principal component analysis and logistic regression to facilitate production scheduling decision support system: an automotive industry case

Production planning and control (PPC) systems have to deal with rising complexity and dynamics. The complexity of planning tasks is due to some existing multiple variables and dynamic factors derived from uncertainties surrounding the PPC. Although literatures on exact scheduling algorithms, simulation approaches, and heuristic methods are extensive in production planning, they seem to be ineff...
